Stream Clean-up

Today we went down to our stream and picked up all the rubbish we could find.

Today the envirogroup had a discussion about our understandings of sustainabilty. Then we completed a survey of our school environment. Finally we played a water conservation game, we had to work in teams to get all of the water from one container to the other.

Tiaki Taiao Leaders

Today we had our first meeting of Tiaki Taiao leaders. We introduced ourselves and shared some ideas about what an envirogroup does. Whaea Lindsey did an activity with us that focused on teamwork.

Enviroschools Bus Tour

Yesterday the Envirogroup joined other Nelson schools on a bus tour to 2 amazing schools - Ngatimoti School and Tasman School. We got to have a look around the schools and learn about some of the projects they have done to improve their school environment. We also took part in some interesting activities - one involved carrying (very heavy) rocks up from the river to the stream beside the school. The rocks will be used to help stop erosion on the banks of the stream. We came away very inspired and with lots of great ideas.
