Yesterday the Envirogroup joined other Nelson schools on a bus tour to 2 amazing schools - Ngatimoti School and Tasman School. We got to have a look around the schools and learn about some of the projects they have done to improve their school environment. We also took part in some interesting activities - one involved carrying (very heavy) rocks up from the river to the stream beside the school. The rocks will be used to help stop erosion on the banks of the stream. We came away very inspired and with lots of great ideas.
Today Mel from Waimāori Streamcare visited the Envirogroup. She talked about how we can care for our waterways, what our rivers need to be healthy, and introduced us to some of the creatures that live in freshwater. We also watched a DVD called "Guardians of The Mauri'.
